540 is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to lead development of a data transformation and workflow solution for an impactful part of the U.S. Army. You will be deploying and operating a replacement for a legacy financial system to the cloud, and innovate new cloud-first solutions for the U.S. Army’s data management ecosystem.
On the technical side, you’ll be responsible for cloud architecture, security and governance. You will work with multiple teams on problems that require architectural thinking and programming skills to design the system. On the functional side, you will be responsible for communicating design decisions to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels, drafting and delivering recurring reports and demonstrations of the system and putting in place practices and procedures to deliver a high-quality, tested, and secure product.Location: Remote within the continental United States, East Coast working hours with some flexibility afforded.
Occasional travel may be required (up to 1x per month)Citizenship & Clearance Requirement: per client requirements, must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related engineering field (preferred)

- 6+ years of experience
- Experience managing a team, contract and partner relationships
- Experience deploying and operating applications in the cloud, including designing, implementing and securing cloud infrastructure
- Professional level certification from a major cloud service provider
- Specific experience with AWS services in production:
- EC2
- EKS
- Serverless (Lambda)
- RDS
- DevSecOps experience in the following:
- CI/CD
- Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)
- GitLab or GitHub
- SAST & DAST
- Experience with Data Engineering, Data Pipelines, or Data Analysis
- Experience managing contractual reports and deliverables
