Overview of Role:
Truehold is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director of Talent and in collaboration with the Corporate Controller, Director of Fund Accounting, and Senior Director of Finance, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for all aspects of payroll including, but not limited to the preparation of the bi-weekly payroll for over 100 employees, the associated payroll journal entries, payroll tax filings, interfacing with Rippling on a weekly basis, interfacing with employees on a regular basis and generating a myriad of payroll related reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate preparation and timely processing of all payroll transactions
- Prepare and submit all tax filings
- Manage new hire setup, salary adjustments, deductions, and garnishments
- Remain current with all federal, state, and local employment laws
- Manage payroll-related projects, including year-end preparation and payroll tax issue resolution
- Audit employee payroll changes
- Ensure pay disbursements, tax deposits, and tax filings are completed accurately and timely
- Act as primary payroll contact for establishment of new payrolls, implementation of tax and regulatory changes, process changes, management of earning/deduction codes and system enhancement
- Additional responsibilities may cover workers comp, unemployment, Rippling, 401k management, time & attendance once we transition to having a non-exempt workforce, etc.
- Assist with monthly reconciliations, including payroll bank accounts and salary-related general ledger accounts
- Support the Accounting Department in preparing payroll journal entries and related accruals
- Support People Admin Troubleshooting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with preference for concentration in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience required
- 3+ years experience of payroll experience
- Experience with Rippling payroll, or comparable HRIS/payroll system, is highly preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll and benefit reporting and payroll tax filing requirements
- Accounting knowledge and experience related to creating all payroll related journal entries and payroll, benefits, and payroll related accruals including, but not limited to salary, earned time off, payroll tax liabilities and other fringe benefits
- Demonstrated experience in payroll processes and payroll tax laws
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates high level of accuracy and attention to detail; has strong computer skills
- Ability to prioritize adn manage numerous projects at once
- Self-motivated, takes initiative, and is comfortable with ambiguity
