About Our Search
Our DC Metro office is looking for a strong Interior Designer to join the PK-12 Education Market Sector. Our next team member will have excellent communication, design, graphic and visualization skills. This individual will manage, organize and coordinate with the design and technical project teams throughout the design process to successfully execute architectural projects.
About Our Market Sector
PK-12 school design is most effective when it actively supports and enriches school programs. Hord Coplan Macht’s designs have been informed by and are responsive to research, learning philosophy, community and, ultimately, the learners themselves. Spaces, both within and without, need to support the myriad of ways teaching and learning occur. Together, we work with our clients to integrate distinct programs and excellent design to create exceptional educational experiences.
About the Position
- Collaborates with team members, engineers and other consultants for coordination of work
- Utilizes space planning, 3D visualization, knowledge of materials and common building practices to create a design and carry it through to completion
- Delivers design intent, verbally, graphically and in writing to the internal design team as well clients, consultants and contractors
- Contributes to the production of design documents and detailed development of construction documents during all project phases
- Reviews shop drawings, material submittals and conducts periodic site visits during construction
- Performs layout and assembly of material boards
- Assembles furniture presentations, specification packages, interior design and finish presentations
About You
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design
- 5-8 years of interior design experience on Educational projects preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of design software such as Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion or Enscape
- Possesses general knowledge of building codes and ADA guidelines as they relate to life safety and space planning
- Team player with a collaborative mindset
- Interest in PK-12 Educational Interiors
