The primary role of the SEO Manager is to activate and implement SEO projects and ongoing program management. This may include SEO strategy and execution, analytics and reporting, and optimization tactics to achieve business objectives. The SEO Manager must possess a track record of managing organic search activations and optimizations from end to end.The SEO Manager will have a solid understanding of organic search and the technology platforms across the digital media tech stack. The SEO Manager will collaborate with content creators, copywriters, digital developers and integrated teams to support client programs and goals.The SEO Manager reports to the Content Marketing Director.
The person in this role works closely with the Content Marketing team, Digital team, Creative Directors, Client Engagement Directors and Project Managers, and the Analytics and Performance team in all job functions, serving as an active champion for the organic search discipline.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities as SEO Manager
- Develop, execute and optimize cutting-edge organic search strategies to drive business objectives and maximize ROI
- Uncover and recommend new content creation opportunities by leveraging keyword research, competitive analyses, SERP insights and trend analyses
- Provide optimization recommendations for new and existing content assets such as blog articles, landing pages, etc.
- Manage and measure programs using major search platforms and tools
- Analyze and report on program performance data to guide strategic decisions and improve future work
- Provide SEO support for website builds and other Digital projects including conducting keyword research, writing metadata, pulling status code errors and providing redirect recommendations, and ensuring proper crawling, indexation and ranking
- Collaborate with other agency cross-functional teams and clients to align organic search strategies with marketing objectives and business goals
- Conduct continuous testing and data-driven optimization
- Oversee and manage organic search budgets
- Stay up to date on rapidly changing SEO trends, tools and best practices to continuously refine our approach
- Mentor junior team members who assist with organic search efforts
- Assist in educating and promoting SEO as a valuable channel, both internally and to new and existing clients
- Provide support for ad hoc requests including POVs, quick insights, data snapshots and top-line analyses of the organic search landscape for specific sites or pieces of content
Requirements
- 4-5 years of experience managing organic search programs
- Advanced knowledge of SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Google Looker Studio, Moz, Semrush, Screaming Frog, etc.
- Strong strategic and analytical skills with proficiency in major search platforms and tools, e.g., Google Analytics or GA4, Google Search Console, Google Looker Studio, Semrush and Screaming Frog
- Ability to work independently and balance multiple projects/clients while prioritizing work with evolving and competing timelines, budgets and availabilities
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills to effectively engage with internal and external teams
- Bachelor’s degree
