Position Overview:
The Medical Collections Representative is responsible for managing inbound and outbound calls from patients, addressing billing inquiries, and assisting with payment processing and financial assistance programs. The role involves collaborating with patients to create suitable payment arrangements, ensuring accurate documentation of collection efforts, and striving to meet or exceed collection targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage inbound and outbound calls from patients, addressing inquiries about billing, payment processing, and eligibility for financial assistance programs.
Conduct payment transactions using various methods such as credit/debit cards, electronic funds transfers, and alternative payment options.
Collaborate with patients to devise manageable payment arrangements tailored to their financial circumstances and client guidelines.
Collect pertinent information from patients to facilitate their enrollment in financial assistance initiatives offered by the client.
Ensure meticulous documentation of all collection efforts, including payment plan details.
Achieve or surpass established collection benchmarks determined by the organization.
Uphold a professional and compassionate demeanor during interactions with patients.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certifications/OTJ Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of subject matter:
- Previous experience in medical collections is preferred.
- Knowledge of FDCPA and HIPAA laws and regulations.
Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical ability to sit, talk, and hear for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Stand, walk, push/pull, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach on a regular to seldom basis.
- Frequent repetitive hand motions including fingering, grasping, and handling.
- Ability to read handwritten and typed documents on paper and/or computer screens.
