Are you ready to learn more about the opportunities with our team? Trell-yeah you are!We are looking for a versatile Data Scientist to join our Data Science & Engineering team. You will be responsible for turning medical and pharmacy claims data into measures and actionable insights within our Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions. You will utilize your strong quantitative analysis and SQL skills to create and analyze scripts to compute metrics and impact downstream data sets. You will work closely with our product teams to contribute to the product roadmap, assist with user stories, develop specifications, and provide timeline estimations. Additionally, you will contribute to multiple initiatives both in a team and independent environment, and you'll have the ability to take direction, run with idea, and have a keen eye for improvements. We're looking for someone who is intellectually curious who is passionate about continuous learning, especially when solving problems within healthcare data.

As a Data Scientist at Trella, you will:
- Develop SQL and Python Scripts necessary to support curated datasets in Trella’s proprietary solutions.
- Work with vast national datasets of medical and pharmacy claims to interpret, analyze, and build datasets that deliver actionable insights.
- Act as a subject matter expert on healthcare data sources, calculations, and methodologies.
- Collaborate with the product team to size and scope new analytic projects, defining specifications and requirements.
- Assist in the validation of datasets, contributing to QA/test strategies to ensure data quality.
- Design, document, and refine measurement methodologies in collaboration with Data Scientists and Product teams.
- Translate complex business concepts into practical data deliverables for our platform, working with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Continuously enhance your knowledge of the healthcare industry through independent research and professional development.
This job might be a fit for you if you have:
- Bachelors degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally in healthcare or life sciences.
- Advanced Python skills (e.g., developing data pipelines, writing complex data processing scripts, and automating workflows).
- Advanced SQL skills (e.g., writing complex queries, reverse-engineering scripts).
- Strong knowledge of medical claims data (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial).
- Experience with medical coding systems (ICD10, CPT, HCPCS, MS DRG, NPPES NPI).
- Ability to work independently and build data programs.
- Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with software development tools like Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
- A passion for using data to improve healthcare and a love for solving complex problems.
