Position Summary
The Reservoir Engineer will be responsible for applying technical evaluations to the development and production of oil and gas reservoirs to obtain a high economic recovery. The candidates will be responsible for working with multi-discipline teams to support optimal asset development and operation, leveraging fundamental reservoir engineering skills in reservoir description, development planning, opportunity generation and production optimization. Responsible for reservoir modeling, production forecasting, well testing, well drilling and workover planning, economic modeling, and Pressure Volume Temperature (PVT) analysis of reservoir fluids.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with multidisciplinary team to generate and execute a development plan in the Eagle Ford with the goal of maximizing value, including optimization of completion design, well spacing, production practices, landing zones, etc
- Perform economic analyses for the purpose of AFE’s and field development
- Work with the Finance team on budget and long-term forecasting, consistent with Company’s development plan
- Collaborate with finance team to develop corporate level targets and goals and assist with tracking and understanding variance versus Forecast production, capital, and other metrics
- Ensure well estimated ultimate recovery (EURs), product pricing, Capex, Opex, pipeline tariffs, processing fees, processing upgrades, and taxes reflect current performance
- Support Reserves team in analysis of annual reserves process, including collaboration with third-party Auditors to ensure compliance with reserve reporting practices
- Analyze well performance using rate transient analysis (RTA), pressure transient analysis (PTA), and numerical simulation when necessary
- Evaluate and report competitor results and collaborate to implement competitor’s best practices where appropriate
- Prepare basin level scoping analyses and conduct reservoir simulation studies to determine optimal development plans for oil and gas reservoirs
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Education, Experience, Licensure
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum, Chemical, or Geologic Engineering or related field of study
- Three (3) to ten (10) years of Exploration & Production (E&P) or relevant industry experience
- Experience in Unconventional Reservoirs
Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure
- Three (3) years of Reservoir Engineering experience
- Three (3) years of experience with an E&P Company engaged in unconventional resource development
- Professional Engineering (PE) Certification
- SPE Certified Petroleum Engineering Certification
- Development planning and/or operations experience is a plus
- Experience in the Eagle Ford

- Proficient in reserve estimations and conducting moderate reservoir engineering analyses
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to management and across field and office peers
- Must have a substantial working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access, and proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and economic and technical analysis software (e.g.; Aries, Whitson, or IHS Harmony)
- Ability to identify issues, troubleshoot, and develop solutions
- Strong analytical, math, and problem-solving skills to be able to make accurate calculations, identify deficiencies, address weaknesses, and how to improve them
- Demonstrate high ethical and professional behavior and decision making when working with others
- Able to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities, tasks, and deadlines
- Good interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, and foster and encourage teamwork
- Proficiency with Spotfire, preferred
