The Program Manager strategically shapes our programming efforts across five counties in Connecticut: Hartford, New Haven, Fairfield, Litchfield and Tolland.Position ProfileWe are looking for a dynamic, innovative, results driven, and mission focused leader to guide the statewide programming efforts of Girls on the Run Greater Connecticut as our Program Manager.
This highly visible leadership position will build, lead and implement our programming to fulfill the Girls on the Run mission. As a key member of the organization’s leadership team, the Program Manager reports to and partners closely with our Executive Director and supervises our Program Coordinator. The role requires strong relationship building, the management of a high volume of work with efficiency, excellent communication skills, a strong sense of ownership and resilience, flexibility, and empathic leadership.ResponsibilitiesThe Girls on the Run Greater Connecticut Program Manager (PM) manages all programming for Girls on the Run including our program for 3-5th grade girls, Girls on the Run, and our program for 6th-8th grade girls, Heart & Sole. The PM oversees all aspects of the programs, including setting goals; recruitment and the application process; coach training facilitation and support, and overall program management. Program Outreach and Management - 70%
- Lead planning and implementation for all Girls on the Run programming
- Create season and yearly goals, implement the Girls on the Run strategic program plan and collaborate with the team to achieve program goals
- Meet and work with community leaders, school leaders and other groups and organizations to maximize the success of programming
- Effectively recruit volunteers and school sites to the program
- Develop marketing strategies and material to grow our impact
- Support the needs of new and existing sites, conducting site visits to ensure quality programming
- Manage administrative pieces of program implementation including registration, program evaluations, and applications in Pinwheel
- Develop and track program budget with Executive Director
- Manage participant financial assistance policies and procedures
- Communicate with sites, coaches and families
Lead Volunteer Coach Management and Training - 10%
- Develop effective coach recruitment and retention strategies that result in qualified volunteers that mirror the demographics of our community and girls served
- Manage all aspects of coach training, including logistics and facilitation
- Support coach volunteers throughout the application process and season
Organizational Support - 10%
- Play a key leadership role at the fall and spring 5K events
- Attend community events on behalf of the organization to raise awareness of the organization or in support of community partnership
- Coordinate and attend organizational events
- Other duties as assigned
Program Support - 10%
- Provide support and input for other programming and new initiatives and projects as needed
- Participate and provide support for fundraising efforts
- Supervise and mentor interns
- Participate and represent GOTR GCT at meetings and trainings
- Provide data for reporting to GOTR International
- Conduct training and provide facilitation for internal meetings

- Communication: You are a strong communicator and enjoy equipping people with information through in-person, writing, presentation, and phone conversation with demonstrated facilitation skills. You are customer service oriented and can stay calm under pressure while meeting the needs of our constituents with empathy.
- Computer Proficiency: You are no stranger to software programs and have word processing and data entry skills using Microsoft programs (especially Word and Excel) and Google documents; ability to relay information, messages and correspondence in timely and organized manner; experience using spreadsheets and databases
- Project Management: You leverage resources to see a project from initiation to close, you understand how the small details fit into the overall big picture of a project and are able to work independently but know when to ask questions.
Qualifications:
- Reliable transportation: Ability to travel within five-county territory (Hartford, New Haven, Fairfield, Litchfield, Tolland)
- Expected to be in the community 3 days a week Sept.-Nov. & March-May.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, with a willingness to fill in as needed for organizational requirements
- Employment is contingent on successful completion of a background check; and verification of employment eligibility.

This role is full-time at 35 hours per week and offers a compensation range of $24.73 - $30.22 per hour, (totaling $45,000 - $55,000 annually) depending on experience.In addition, GOTR Connecticut offers staff generous PTO and a wellness benefit support of up to $400 per month reimbursement for eligible expenses.
