In a recent third-party work culture survey, Girls in the Run employees described the organization as: collaborative, joyful, hardworking, caring, fast-paced and quality-focused.Position SummaryReporting directly to the Chief Development Officer and consistent with the mission of Girls on the Run International, the National Alliance Manager will be responsible for developing, managing, and expanding strategic alliances with key partners, including corporations, associations, foundations, membership organizations, and government entities, to support the mission and goals of Girls on the Run International and its council network.
This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent relationship-building skills, an understanding of nonprofit partnership dynamics, the ability to manage multiple relationships across various sectors, and a collaborative mindset to work cross departmentally with internal audiences. Existing and New Strategic Alliances
- Create and implement a national alliance strategy that supports the achievement of the organization’s marathon goals with a particular focus on building brand awareness and expanding the volunteer base.
- Identify, cultivate, and establish new alliances with like-minded non-profit organizations, corporations, associations, foundations, membership organizations and government agencies by conducting research and a needs assessment, initiating outreach, attending relevant conferences, and using target lists and inbound inquiries.
- Thoroughly evaluate potential new partnerships during cultivation to ensure the prospective alliance’s mission and structure are well-aligned with the Girls on the Run mission and structure.
- Identify and engage internal collaborators as necessary to ensure alliance objectives are mutually beneficial, aligned with organizational goals, and achieved.
- Assess existing organizational alliances with the goal of broadening and deepening support.
- Manage existing alliances, working closely with relevant internal collaborator(s) to ensure proper stewardship to maximize impact, cultivation, and engagement. Connect with relevant internal collaborators (HQ or councils) to determine expectations and outcomes.
- Monitor performance indicators, create reports, and share insights with leadership, internal colleagues, and alliance partners.
- Continuously foster and strengthen relationships through planned communications including mailings, newsletters, annual reports, and update meetings.
- Create custom alliance proposals with established and measurable goals and key performance indicators.
Alliance Recognition and Engagement
- Formulate and implement stewardship strategies for all National Alliances, designing distinctive and memorable interactions throughout the year.
- Develop and execute memorandums of understanding and other formal agreements to clearly define the benefits and features of each relationship.
- Organize and attend national and regional events, conferences, and meetings to foster and enhance alliances as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications teams to manage the creation of co-branded materials, including promotional content, social media posts, conference resources, and presentation assets necessary for effectively leveraging alliance partnerships. Work closely with these teams to execute, analyze and externally share the performance of alliance promotions and develop data-informed ideas to engage target audiences.
- Lead communications related to alliances to ensure relevant information is shared in weekly internal and monthly external newsletters.
- Serve as the liaison between Girls on the Run International and its council network to address alliance opportunities, questions, leads, or work.

- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in partnership management, business development, or a similar role, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit operations and the philanthropic landscape.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic partnerships.
- Exceptional verbal, written communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and partnerships simultaneously, with a high degree of self-motivation and a proven ability to work independently, consistently multi-task and manage a varied workload.
- Strong analytical, resourcefulness, creativity and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in CRM software and partnership management tools.
- Ability to rely on experience and discernment to grow funding in an environment where foresight, business acumen and strong interpersonal relationship skills are essential.
- High level of maturity with the ability to build trust, influence others and relate to a wide variety of constituents to achieve goals.
- Strong level of emotional intelligence with an ability to keenly listen to and understand constituent needs to establish and build mutually beneficial relationships.

This is an exempt, full-time position at 40 hours per week, offering a compensation range of $69,000 - $74,000, depending on experience.
