Pay Scale:
Non-Exempt
- Starting Range: $24.00 - $31.25 - Depending on Experience. DOE.
- Pay Transparency: To comply with equal pay and pay transparency laws in various locations, we believe the target range of base compensation in all locations within the United States for this role is within the range offered for this opportunity. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.
Role Summary:
The Metalwork Lead will be responsible for all metals and outfitting activities, including planning, and directing the execution of projects. In addition, and in coordination with projects and department managers, develop, and execute project plans for welding and outfitting associated with all client demands related to the quality and completion of projects in motion, such as repairs and refitting parts. Ensures all projects are completed on time and within budget.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead all activities of the metals department, established procedures, and approved processes.
- Drive continuous improvement, use lean techniques, and actively research new techniques and process to shorten production duration while ensuring Modern Space’s standards of quality are consistently maintained.
- Actively involved in training, performance review and evaluation of immediate team.
- Plan, schedule and coordinate departmental activities to fulfil project schedule demands and deliver finished products on time and within budget.
- Manage all safety and environmental policies and procedures in the department.
- Coordinate work with all manufacturing departments, including purchasing, millwork, to assure a cohesive overall project execution.
- Keep the project manager apprised of changes to scheduled execution dates.
- Ability to locate, retrieve and disseminate information from blueprints and other engineering drawings.
- Ensure completed work meets the established and historical standards for quality.
- Ability to work with outsourcing services occasionally to monitor execution and quality.

Qualifications
- Previous Experience in both Metal & Mill work manufacturing environments is essential.
- Demonstrate excellent ability to work in a “team” environment and share knowledge of discipline-specific work, both vertically and horizontally across the organization.
- Demonstrate skills in team building, mentoring, for individual associate growth and developing culture of innovation and learning.
- Ability to make well-informed, rational decisions and demonstrate the skill of problem solving within the framework of organizational policies and procedures.
- Must possess the ability to supervise all personnel assigned to the metals department.
Requirements:
- 5 years or more, experience in metal fabrication and in involved in constructing and repairing metal structures.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to industrial welding operations.
Education:
- 2-year associate degree in Welding a definite plus
- Bachelor Degree, a plus
Physical considerations
- This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to paints, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and other production operations. The noise level in the workplace can be loud.
