About the team
Turo is looking for a Communications Manager to join its US Brand Marketing team to tell the Turo story on a day-to-day basis in the US and highlight how Turo is revolutionizing the car rental industry. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, and can work in a fast-paced environment with a passion for storytelling across different media channels. You will be responsible for working directly with journalists, liaising with agency partners, managing media inquiries, gathering stories from within our guest and host community, creating and executing integrated comms plans, and tracking Turo and relevant industry news.
You will report to our Senior Brand Communications Manager (US) and work in close partnership with Legal, Data, and Host Success.
What you will do
- Provide support for US communications priorities
- Create holistic communications plans for both traditional and social media
- Lead seasonal press outreach
- Own PR and social tracking, and building media and influencer lists
- Establish and strengthen relationships with key reporters and influencers across the U.S.
- Manage reactive press requests and use available tools like data, industry research to host stories to build positive sentiment around Turo’s community and brand
- Engage with our host & guest community on media opportunities
- Liaise with regional and global members of the Communications team and with key stakeholders across Marketing, Legal, Host Success, Government Relations, and Business Development
Your profile
- 5+ years of agency or in-house experience handling PR and social media/influencer relations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related work experience
- Exceptional at media relations with a strong roster of strong media contacts with an ability to identify what makes for a compelling story
- Ability to plan and execute a proactive press project such as a data-driven pitch or campaign (i.e. press event, press trip, celebrity/influencer engagement)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Meltwater, Cision, or related software
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to travel as required to staff media opportunities and campaigns
- Valid US driver's license
Bonus if you have
- Previous experience in the auto, marketplace, or travel industry
- Experience working in data visualization tools such as Domo or Tableau
For this role, the target base salary range in San Francisco is $110,000-$123,000 annually. This role is also eligible for equity and the benefits described below. In general, our ranges reflect the market-based target for new hire salaries based on the level and location of the role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by objective factors assessed during the application and interview process, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
