Position Summary:
Senior HR Generalist contributes to our mission by supporting the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including key processes such as hiring, administering pay, leaves, and enforcing company policies and practices with little supervision. Working closely with the HR Business Partners, the Senior HR Generalist supports HR initiatives and projects in achievement of Company goals.
A Day in the Life of a Sr. HR Generalist at Discovery Life Sciences:
- Review emails and prioritize tasks for the day.
- Participate in virtual team meetings with HR colleagues and business leaders from different regions to discuss ongoing projects, staffing needs, and global HR initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to line managers on HR policies, employee relations issues, and performance management processes.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure HR policies and practices comply with local employment laws.
Position Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource or business-related degree preferred
- Minimum of five years of formal human resources experience required.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Ability to prioritize, manage and follow-up on multiple concurrent tasks and requests on tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of federal employment laws and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across the organization.
- Tendency to be process oriented, self-starting, proactive and independent.
- International working experience is preferred
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the Discovery’s HRIS (UKG Pro & Dimensions a plus).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and/or weekends as business needs dictate.
Key Responsibilities:
- With limited supervision, responsible for the day-to-day HR operations partnering with the HR Business Partners on all HR related issues in the employee cycle and experience.
- Perform complex tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- Facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Implement new hire onboarding and orientation programs.
- Administer employee recognition programs.
- Handle advanced employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- May facilitate and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Partner with corporate shared services functions, like Finance and IT, on HR matters.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
