We’re entering an exciting phase of global expansion and rapid scaling, and we're seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Controller to help drive our financial strategy and build a world-class finance organization.RoleAs the Controller, you will play a pivotal role in managing and scaling the financial operations of the company. You will oversee accounting, tax compliance, and audit coordination, while ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting across multiple international entities.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep SaaS industry experience, technical accounting expertise, and a track record of system implementations and process improvements in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Compliance:Lead the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, adhering to GAAP and SaaS-specific revenue recognition (ASC 606). Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory requirements, and internal controls across all domestic and international entities.
- International Entity Operations:Manage financial operations across multiple international entities, ensuring consolidation of financial statements, regulatory compliance, transfer pricing, and alignment with local tax laws. Implement strategies to optimize global financial operations and reduce risk.
- Audit Coordination:Lead audit preparation and act as the primary liaison with external auditors. Oversee annual financial audits and ensure compliance with tax filings and regulatory requirements. Prepare for potential future public company audits, including readiness for SOX compliance.
- Tax Strategy & Compliance:Oversee all tax planning and compliance matters, including federal, state, and international tax filings. Work closely with external tax advisors on transfer pricing, international tax structuring, and optimizing the company’s overall tax position.
- Process Improvement & System Implementation:Design and implement scalable accounting processes and internal controls to support growth. Lead the implementation of new financial systems (e.g., NetSuite) and ensure automation of key workflows, driving operational efficiency and enhancing data accuracy.
- Financial Close Process:Manage the monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely reporting across all entities. Partner with FP&A to provide variance analysis, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Cash Flow Management:Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to support the company’s operational needs. Implement processes to monitor and forecast cash needs across global operations.
- Leadership & Team Development:Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing accounting team capable of scaling with the company. Foster a collaborative environment that supports both personal development and professional excellence.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:Collaborate with departments such as Sales, Operations, HR, and Legal to support business initiatives, optimize financial performance, and provide strategic insight. Assist in M&A transactions, equity compensation, and cap table management as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA required(inactive or active); MBA or other advanced degrees preferred.
- 8-12 years of accounting/finance experience, with at least 4-5 years in a Controller or senior finance leadership role, ideally at a high-growth SaaS company.
- Strong experience managing international entity operations, including consolidation, international tax compliance, and navigating multi-currency environments.
- Proven track record of leading financial audits, implementing internal controls, and ensuring tax compliance across domestic and global operations.
- Expertise in financial system implementations, ERP upgrades (NetSuite), and driving process automation.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, SaaS-specific revenue recognition (ASC 606), and subscription business models.
- Demonstrated experience scaling accounting functions in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience building and mentoring accounting teams.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex financial concepts to executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
