Our roasting platform allows Bellwether customers to easily and responsibly source green coffee from incredible coffee farms around the world, expertly roast using artisan-crafted roast profiles, and share fresh, delicious coffee!About the roleThis is a multifaceted, dynamic role reporting to the Sr. Director of Coffee Operations. The role will primarily support our roasted coffee program by roasting, bagging, and shipping coffee while maintaining equipment as needed. A successful associate will be able to roast and fill orders in a timely and efficient manner to meet the demands of our production schedule. This role will also require interfacing and coordinating with other members of the Coffee Team as well as other cross-functional teams.
This role will help to facilitate cuppings and tastings, as well as provide brewed coffee support as needed for customer visits and demos. They will also be required to assist in process improvements implemented by the Sr. Director of Coffee Operations. A good candidate will have strong organizational skills as well as good interpersonal communication skills. Some roasting experience is preferred though not necessary. The ideal candidate will have production, shipping, manufacturing and/or warehouse fulfillment experience. Barista experience is a plus. Someone well suited to this role will also be able to pivot quickly as the needs of the department and organization change as well as being process improvement oriented. This role is a good fit for people who like working in a team, a fast-paced work environment, and creative problem solving. This role requires 100% onsite presence in Berkeley.Primary Responsibilities
- Roasting coffee on the Bellwether Roaster
- Filling and shipping customer orders
- Utilization of UPS Campus Ship to print labels, ship product, track orders and resolve any shipping issues
- Meticulous tracking of roasts and green coffee usage
- Continuous organization of green coffee and production areas
- Inventory management support through physical counts
- Operate and maintain Bellwether roasting equipment
- Be a steward of the the roaster, alerting a cross-functional team to resolve any technical issues on roasters
- Support cross-functional teams with tastings, demos, samples and other needs
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Self-starter, who is able to operate with a high level of autonomy, organization, and follow through
- Highly adaptable and quick on your feet. Ability to multitask, adjust the plan, devise solutions, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Eligibility to work in the United States
Desired training/experience
- 2+ years of production experience preferred
- Experience working in a warehouse environment a plus
- Experience with shipping software like UPS etc also preferred
- Experience as a barista a plus

- Physical requirements: Ability to sit/stand/walk/squat or lay for various amounts of time during an 8 to 10 hour shift; frequent use of hands for grasping, turning and fine manipulation
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs regularly, and up to 60 lbs occasionally
