Ignite Reading delivers one-to-one virtual tutoring that teaches every student the foundational skills they need to become a confident, fluent reader. We pair students who need extra support with expert reading tutors who provide daily, 15-minute, Science of Reading-based instruction that rapidly closes their decoding gaps. We focus on the foundational reading skills—phonics, phonemic awareness, and sight words—kids need to master so they can decode a sentence. Students in Ignite Reading’s program achieve over 2 weeks of reading skills growth per week of instruction, and notably all students achieve the same outstanding results including students with IEPs, multilingual learners, students of color and those receiving free or reduced-price lunch.Ignite Reading is a mission-driven public benefit corporation.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our data infrastructure. You will work closely with data analysts and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth flow and integrity of data across various systems.Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines in SQL and Python leveraging tools such as DBT, Airflow, AWS Lambda, AWS Redshift, etc.
- Develop Python scripts and applications to automate data processing and improve workflow efficiency.
- Maintain and update technical documentation related to data processes and workflows.
- Collaborate within the Data team and stakeholders to understand data requirements and objectives.
- Ensure data quality and integrity through effective monitoring and error handling.
- Optimize data warehouse and BI platform (Tableau) performance and troubleshoot issues related to data processing, performance, or scalability.
- Implement data governance policies and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.
- Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, automation, and integration tasks.
- Experience with ETL tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend, Informatica).
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Understanding of machine learning concepts and tools.
