About the Role:
The Manager, Tax Operations role is a pivotal position responsible for leading and managing the PH tax team to ensure that all tax-related activities are executed with precision and in full compliance with US tax laws and regulations. This role requires a dynamic leader who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on involvement, acting as both a mentor and a key problem solver within the team. The Tax Manager will stay abreast of the latest developments in tax legislation, providing expert guidance to internal stakeholders while driving the continuous improvement of tax processes.
Additionally, they will play a crucial role in recruiting and developing top talent, ensuring the team consistently meets critical tax deadlines and upholds the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the tax team to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to US tax laws and regulations in tax return preparation and meets the highest standards for Collective.
- Be a player/coach for the tax team - handle any key issues, or member conflict.
- Stay updated on changes in US tax laws, regulations, and industry practices, ensuring the application of the latest tax rules and regulations.
- Review and analyze financial statements and tax-related data to identify potential tax risks or opportunities.
- Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on tax-related issues and ensure adherence to tax policies and procedures.
- Help team interview and close new tax accountants.
- Ensure all tax deadlines are met.
What we want you to bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field (CPA certification is preferred)
- +5 years of tax seasons experience with sole proprietors and S Corps
- Strong knowledge of US tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements for the relevant tax forms
- Extensive experience with tax preparation
- Experience with US multi-State compliance
- Experience in managing a team of 10 or greater, preferred
- Experience with SurePrep and Thomson Reuters Suite (GoSystem, UltraTax) preferred
- Strong attention to details, time and project management skills
- Extensive experience in member conflict resolution
- Comfortable and effective at juggling multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced and ever changing work environment
- Occasional travel may be required
