Meet the team:
The Systems Planner/ Designer will support and assist in the development of the system routes, urban strategies and preliminary design for Glydways transit projects and assist in the management of design sub-consultants under the direction of the project delivery team. This position requires a creative, results-oriented individual to be able to participate in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team and to directly contribute to the creation of system plans, preliminary quantification of those plans according established cost models and parameters, and collaborate with Glydways Product and Simulation teams to refine those plans for proposals and into project delivery phases. The ideal candidate will possess direct knowledge of public planning processes including applicable regulatory and environmental requirements and stakeholder engagement, and best practices of placemaking and transit-oriented urban design.
A successful candidate will be self-motivated, with excellent communication skills and possess the initiative to own and deliver high quality, technically sound system concepts in graphic, written and financial terms.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Produce, coordinate system plans, route maps using GIS, Adobe suite and online transit planning tools (Podaris).
- Collaborate with Engineering team to create system simulations
- Document on-going infrastructure tech development with designs, illustrations and writing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of integrated multi-mode transit planning principles
- Experience in public space, mobility or complete streets design
- Familiarity with architectural, civil and structural engineering principles
- Experience with sustainable urban design practices
- Knowledge of California CEQA Process and Requirements
- Experience in writing related to transportation, land-use and urban design
- University-level Degree from an accredited school in Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture with +3-5 years experience or Masters Degree +1yr
- Skilled in utilizing Google Suite applications for collaborative work and publication
- Experience using Podaris or other transit planning/ GIS software
- Skilled in creating graphics to depict urban design/ planning/ placemaking concepts
