Assists in the review and analysis of new & amended regulation applicable to Money Services & Digital Assets/Virtual Currency business and in developing procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.Responsibilities
- Work closely with the leadership team and external stakeholders to obtain necessary information needed for licensing purposes.
- Ensure that obligations arising from reporting requirements, particularly at state level, are understood, clearly documented & communicated to internal stakeholders to ensure compliance;
- Liaise with other internal departments including Accounting, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Engineering, Data, Marketing, and Support to fulfill regulatory obligations.
- Ensure all company information is up to date internally and externally in a rapidly and consistently evolving company and regulatory environment.
- Ensure all licensing maintenance and renewal procedures are followed on an ongoing basis.
- Track, analyze & report on upcoming regulatory changes applicable to Uphold’s business activities.
- Assist in preparations for routine in-depth examinations by regulators.
- Appropriately gather and process extremely sensitive documents and information of the company and key investors, directors and officers.
- Manage multiple competing priorities and numerous ongoing projects simultaneously and on schedule without sacrificing accuracy or attention to detail.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; must have 2 - 5 years of experience in this role or directly relevant field.
- Experience with state/federal financial regulators required.
- Experience with Money Transmission regulation highly preferred
- Experience with NMLS system highly preferred.
- Experience with cryptocurrency/fintech is desirable but not required.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS) a huge plus.
- Must be highly organized, a self-starter, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Has a positive outlook on life and projects a happy disposition.
Bonus if you have:
- Existing knowledge of state by state Permissible Investment requirements.
- Existing knowledge of state virtual currency regulatory requirements.
