Job Description
What You’ll Do
As a non-exempt/hourly employee at Burwood,
the Sr. Network Consultant will work alongside Field Service Technicians and coordinate with our Lead Field Services Technicians to provide on-site support for our clients, ensuring seamless implementation and configuration of network infrastructure. This role requires proven cutover leadership experience with hands-on device configuration, strong technical expertise, and the ability to support on-site teams effectively. You must have firsthand experience leading full implementation processes, including planning, executing, and troubleshooting cutovers in live environments.
Project Leadership:
- Lead end-to-end technical cutovers with hands-on device configuration and coordinating with both on-site technicians and remote teams.
- Manage full cutover cycles, from planning and configuration to validation and post-cutover support.
- Organize and communicate project plans, updates, and issues effectively.
- Function as the central point of contact to communicate updates and progress to key stakeholders.
K
ey Technical Skills:
- Configure and manage routers, switches, access points, and VLAN segmentation; Cisco Meraki expertise required
- Manage and configure Azure virtual networking (VNETs, VPNs, Peering, etc.)
- Experience with Zscaler or other cloud security solutions is a strong plus
- Assist with setup and configuration of network environments, remote access solutions, and cloud integration services with oversight from our Hybrid Infrastructure and Cloud Solutions teams
- Minimal involvement in workstation and server deployments but may assist with volume under the guidance of our End User Compute team
Documentation and Post-Implementation Testing:
- Inventory and prepare network equipment for cutovers
- Configure and test network components (routers, switches, APs)
- Reconfigure and test workstations, servers, and peripherals
- Perform functional and validation testing of all reconfigured devices
Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide Tier 2/3 level help desk support during HyperCare (post cutover support)
- Perform technical troubleshooting and remote support using tools like Kaseya
General Requirements:
- Proven experience leading complex cutover projects in live production environments mandatory
- Flexible working hours, generally Friday evening through Tuesday evening
- Travel requirements: 0%
- Certification in relevant technologies (e.g. Cisco) is preferred
- Excellent communication skills

- You have proven experience in leading cutovers in complex technical projects
- You have strong organizational and communication skills
- You have expertise in configuring and managing network equipment, with a focus on Cisco Meraki and Azure VNETs
- You have experience with cloud security solutions such as Zscaler
- You can quickly adapt to unique hardware challenges
- You are detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
- You are comfortable interacting and presenting in front of customers
- You are able to build strong relationships and mentor colleagues
- You are able to manage your travel plans independently (hotel, airfare, rental car, etc.)
- You are willing to frequently work nights and weekends to facilitate site cutovers
- You are flexible to support short notice schedule changes and scheduling complexities
The Tech Stuff
- Expert level proficiency in designing and delivery of enterprise level Data Center L3/L2 technologies with Cisco Nexus, ASR and ISR product offerings.
- Experience deploying enterprise level SDN technologies, including Cisco ACI or Arista and SDWAN products, Viptella, Cloudgenx or SilverPeak.
- Solid understanding of Data Center and Public Cloud interconnects, including MPLS and VPLS
- Proven hands-on experience working with campus network products from Cisco, Arista or Aruba
- CCNP R/S- current
Candidates with the following skills are a plus:
- Wireless products from Cisco or Aruba
- Cisco ISE or Aruba Clearpass
- Any of CCIE R/S, ACMX, or ACDX
- CCNP Security certification
- Palo Alto PCSNE certification
