New Construction Trainer/ QAD (
Remote)
PSD is seeking a New Construction Trainer/ QAD. This position provides the opportunity to improve energy efficiency in new homes by teaching individuals about home energy rating, building science, and compliance programs such as ENERGY STAR. This individual will also have the opportunity to contribute to the technical support of our RESNET Provider group. PSD is looking for applicants with a strong knowledge of, or background to quickly learn, residential energy, RESNET Standards, ENERGY STAR New Homes Program, and appliance standards.
A successful applicant will have the skills to communicate new homes energy information and building science concepts to students, design professionals, builders, contractors, and energy professionals. Under the supervision of the manager of provider services, the trainer will deliver, and support the delivery of, residential training classes such as RESNET HERS Rater Training, ENERGY STAR Certified Home and ENERGY STAR Multifamily. This individual will also work on developing curriculum, creating presentations, providing technical assistance, and promoting program events and services by working with a marketing coordinator. If not already certified, this individual will also need to obtain the RESNET QAD certification to provide Field and File quality assurance for our rater group.

Our core business efforts span three major areas: 1) the delivery of high-impact energy efficiency programs; 2) workforce development and industry training; and 3) the design and development of efficiency software platforms. Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Subject Matter Expertise – Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the RESNET Standards, ENERGY STAR program requirements, and IECC Residential Code.
- Training Curriculum Development – Create technical training programs, including HERS Rater and ENERGY STAR training, for both live presentations and online on-demand platforms. Develop presentation content using adult education principles and audience engagement strategies.
- Training delivery – Deliver training programs to building industry professionals.
- QA/QC – Deliver comprehensive quality assurance support for both fieldwork and documentation.
-Field QA: Travel to service areas to verify compliance with ANSI/RESNET/ICC 380-2019 standards. - File QA: Review and analyze data for adherence to established standards, leveraging experience in data assessment and compliance evaluation.
- Technical assistance – Provide technical assistance to students, Raters, and internal PSD staff.
- Program Management – Track progress to deliverables and meet deliverables within the specified timeframe.
- Proposal Development – Assist in the development of RFP responses for new business opportunities by providing subject matter expertise and supporting presentations to potential clients.
Need to Have:
· HERS Rater or Certified Quality Assurance Designee or Certified Field Assessor · 3+ years related experience in building plan reviews, inspections and/or design and construction. · Excellent interpersonal skills. · Proven oral and written communication skills. · Proficient in a variety of common software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and especially PowerPoint. · Proficient with Ekotrope or REM/Rate· Aptitude for learning new software skills· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills · Excellent presentation skills, both in virtual and in-person settings.
Nice to Have:
· Degree in engineering or architecture. · Sound knowledge of the energy efficiency industry and building science. · Technical certifications such as BPI or LEED.

This position is fully remote with occasional travel as needed to support successful program and training delivery.
Physical Demands:
Frequent computer use involves extended periods of sitting or standing and requires focused audio-visual concentration. Physical demand is generally minimal but can increase during fieldwork, such as lifting blower door fans, equipment bags, and ladders, as well as crawling in attic spaces and climbing ladders.
