POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Compliance Analyst will collaborate with multiple departments to ensure the company adheres to domestic and international laws and regulations, including but not limited to chemical regulations such as REACH, RoHS, EPA regulations, FDA regulations, and PFAS regulations. Major focuses of the role are on legal and regulatory compliance of products manufactured with elastomers and polymers, coordinating compliance across the organization, and maintaining accurate records. This position will also support trade compliance and other compliance initiatives as needed.
The Compliance Analyst reports directly to the VP of Engineering.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate with production, customer service, procurement teams to collect and analyze compliance-related data for manufactured seals and polymer-based products.- Provide expert regulatory guidance for procurement and production processes, ensuring alignment with REACH, RoHS, and EPA standards.- Lead the preparation and coordination for internal and external audits, including those focused on environmental and chemical safety regulations.- Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote compliance with environmental regulations, chemical use, and sustainability initiatives.- Investigate and resolve compliance issues, providing leadership in risk management and ensuring swift resolution of non-compliance matters.- Communicate with suppliers to verify that raw materials meet compliance standards, ensuring proper documentation such as material declarations and certifications.- Monitor regulatory changes, advising the company on adjustments to products and processes to meet evolving compliance requirements.Actively seek opportunities to enhance knowledge and stay updated on relevant regulations and industry best practices, demonstrating a proactive approach to learning and development.- Assist with other compliance requirements of the company.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Familiarity with chemical regulations including REACH, RoHS, FDA regulations, EPA regulations, and PFAS regulations.- Experience in material science, engineering, or chemistry, particularly in analyzing and certifying material compositions for regulatory compliance.- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and clearly communicate regulatory requirements.- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with a focus on accurate record-keeping and maintaining compliance documentation.- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, taking ownership of compliance initiatives.- A strong desire to continuously learn and adapt to new regulations and best practices, with a proactive and aggressive approach to self-improvement and knowledge acquisition.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, material science, chemistry, or a related field is required.- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in environmental and regulatory compliance in the manufacturing industry, preferably with polymers.- Familiarity with import/export regulations, trade compliance, or hazardous substance management is a plus but optional.- Strong analytical skills and prior experience in regulatory interpretation and product certification.
