OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Actuarial Analyst will use analytical skills and business software to resolve business problems and make recommendations to management. This position will support senior management by providing analysis critical to the key functions of the business. The role will include analysis in the areas of pricing and underwriting medical professional liability business and will work closely with senior executives who will provide hands on guidance and training.SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Perform segmentation analysis and make recommendations for refining the pricing and underwriting of our business
- Maintain, improve, and monitor experience rating models used to evaluate individual risks
- Prepare ad hoc reports and studies on topics relevant to the business of professional liability insurance
- Organize, gather, and cleanse information from internal and external sources in preparation for analysis
- Perform peer review of actuarial work products
- Maintain high standards of accuracy in exercising duties and responsibilities
- Provide clear communication of technical work to technical and non-technical audiences
- Pursue actuarial examinations
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 5 or more years of experience required, preferably in an actuarial pricing function
- BA in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
- Completion/passing of a minimum of 5 actuarial exams and a commitment to achieving membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel and VBA
- Experience developing queries and stored procedures as well as altering table structures using SQL
- Demonstrated ability to code using statistical software such as R, Python, SAS, or a similar language
- Excellent quantitative, math, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
