Embedded Software Engineering Intern

REGENTNorth Kingstown | Rhode IslandOnsite
REGENT is building the seaglider; the first electric flying machine that will transport commercial passengers.  With a vehicle that never flies higher than a few meters off the water, we unlock the ability to fly twice as far as an electric aircraft, and certification by maritime authorities which will let us fly first passengers by mid-decade.
We are actively hiring passionate interns who can help us get our vehicle to market as quickly and safely as possible. We are backed by the world’s best investors: the same investors who are behind SpaceX, Palantir, Boom Supersonic, and more. We have over $9B in provisional orders from some of the industry’s largest operators and are hitting the ground running.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • At REGENT, you will be a part of the Platform Software Team, which is responsible for developing and testing the low-level embedded software that controls and monitors all sensors and actuators aboard our seagliders.
  • You will have the opportunity to develop drivers for new vehicle hardware, build emulators to recreate flight scenarios in the lab, and create algorithms to process sensor data in-flight. We are a small but passionate and experienced team that is quickly growing to take on a range of engineering challenges including embedded software, sensor fusion, and hardware-in-the-loop simulation.
  • If you are a highly motivated software engineering student, looking to see your code flying at 180 mph, we’d love for you to apply!

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar field
  • Experience developing software in C/C++
  • Experience working with Microcontrollers such as STM32s, PIC32s, Arduinos, etc
  • Familiar with software development processes including source control, bug tracking, and design documentation.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python or Matlab
  • Experience with Simulation/Modeling tools like Simulink or LabVIEW
