Such individuals should also have a strong interest in single-cell sequencing as a disruptive and enabling technology.We are seeking an enthusiastic Manufacturing Associate (MA) that has a passion for contributing to tools and services that benefit the life science community to join our manufacturing team.
As the Manufacturing Associate you will produce high-quality single cell RNA and methylation products through manufacture of kits or by execution of our various single cell RNA and Methylation product workflows on customer samples as a service for Scale customers. The Manufacturing Associate will operate within the production team to run our single cell RNA and methylation protocols and/or produce various intermediates, subassemblies and finished good kits according to Scales operating plan. The MA will utilize standard cell biology, molecular biology/biochemistry wet lab techniques such as cell counting and manipulation, PCR, DNA/RNA isolation and quantification, fluorescent-based plate assays, Next Gen DNA sequencing, etc. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm and positivity, work independently and as a part of a team, be organized, maintain thorough documentation, and perform molecular biology workflows with exacting standards. In this role the MAs must be able to work in a controlled laboratory environment and adhere to safe work practices. The Manufacturing Associate will be responsible for producing custom products and/or intermediates according to established SOPs and completing manufacturing batch records to meet the daily production schedule. The ideal candidate will be driven and will do what it takes to keep manufacturing on track in a fast-paced start-up environment.
What You'll Do:
- Do whatever it takes to provide reliable, world-class single cell Make to Stock kit products and services to Scale customers.
- Manufacture high quality bulks, intermediates, subassemblies and finished good kits according to established SOPs.
- Maintain thorough, accurate and detailed documentation of all work produced in batch records, databases, etc.
- Pipet, vial, label and package intermediates and products for single cell sequencing kits.
- Perform ScaleBio single cell product workflows to support customer service projects and or QC.
- Perform assays with exceptional scientific rigor and adherence to protocols.
- Effectively use traditional molecular biology processes and techniques such as cell counting, PCR, DNA quantitation, DNA purification, NGS according to SOPs.
- Prepare data reports, batch records, certificates and other common MFG documents.
- Document, troubleshoot and/or address process deviations.
- Pay attention to detail to assure process consistency, without excessive supervision.
- Work independently and in a safe manner.
- Balance priorities to assure continuity of supply and efficient production.
- Create and implement SOPs and manufacturing batch records to make products that meet product and customer requirements.
- Communicate effectively with peers / management and report out daily/monthly KPIs.
- Work according to Good Manufacturing and ISO practices. Follow regulatory, GLP and ISO 13485 requirements as needed and learn, adopt, and promote lean manufacturing concepts.
- Complete and report out daily assigned tasks.
- Package and/or organize products for shipping.
What You'll Bring to the Team:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or similar discipline.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing and/or a laboratory environment is desirable.
- Relevant work experience in manufacturing. Core/services lab or product development experience is a bonus.
- Strong molecular biology lab experience, experience with sequencing, using automation, liquid handling, pipetting, and PCR preferred.
- Good computer skills (Excel, Word, Atlassian etc).
- Strong attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and as a team.
- A can-do attitude and high energy.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and changing landscape.
- Strong proactive ability to anticipate problems and mitigate risk.
- Good written and verbal skills are critical.
Working Conditions:
- This work takes place in a controlled laboratory environment.

- Must be able to stand for long periods of time while performing duties.
- Must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
Below is the pay range for this hourly position.
