Network Engineer (Remote Opportunity)

VetsEZ is seeking a
Network Engineer to support the Data Migration and syndication efforts within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO). The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities:


  • Design, implement, and maintain a secure and scalable network infrastructure, including Cisco routers and switches, F5 load balancers, and Palo Alto firewalls
  • Perform network configuration, upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and security
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, particularly with IRIS Enterprise Cache Protocol (ECP) and external networks
  • Conduct network monitoring and analysis using tools like NetScout, WireShark, and Splunk to identify and address anomalies, ensuring encryption and data integrity
  • Configure and manage firewall rules, VPNs, and security policies, including regular updates and firmware upgrades
  • Manage and optimize server load balancing, SSL offloading, and certificate management
  • Ensure high availability, redundancy, and failover capabilities across network systems, including active/passive configurations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align network solutions with business and technical requirements

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, with a focus on Cisco, F5, and Palo Alto products
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and VPNs
  • Experience with network security practices, including firewall management, intrusion detection/prevention, and encryption
  • Proficiency with network monitoring and analysis tools such as NetScout, WireShark, and Splunk
  • Experience with VA or federal organizations is a plus
  • Familiarity with Data Migration and Syndication within the VA preferred
  • Ability to travel as needed and obtain a government clearance

Additional Qualifications:


  • Experience with VA or other federal organizations.
  • Familiarity with Data Migration and Syndication within the VA.
  • Ability to obtain a Government clearance.
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or any related certification.
