We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer, Library QC who will play a pivotal role in defining the processes to test library preparation products and supporting these products in the field. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving processes, products, and QC through scientific curiosity and problem solving. We are looking for candidates with a solid background in next-generation sequencing, library preparation, and QC assay development. This role will report to Associate Principal Engineer, Product Engineering and will be a San Diego based role.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Own the process for the testing and release of library preparation related products
- Lead complex investigations, troubleshooting product performance issues and support field escalations
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and develop and transfer SOPs across departments
- Independently design, plan, and execute experiments to drive data-based decisions
- Keep current with the field of genomics, especially NGS methodologies and work closely with the R&D Applications team to develop and transfer NGS library preparation related QC protocols and process related SOPs
Education and Experience:
- Educational background in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, or similar fields
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree with more than 5 years' experience, OR Master’s with 3-5, OR PhD with 1-3 years' experience in library preparation or QC assay development
- Experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS), RNA-Seq, NGS sample preparation, NGS data analysis and interpretation
- Experience with failure mode and effects analysis and making risk-based decisions
- Posses creative, critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
- Experienced in a wide variety of nucleic acid related assays employing fluorescence, UV-Vis spectroscopy, electrophoretic and chromatographic methods, PCR/qPCR, and other techniques
- Proficiency with analysis software packages (such as R, JMP, Python) is a plus
