Such individuals should also have a strong interest in single-cell sequencing as a disruptive and enabling technology.The Director of Product Management will lead the Product Management team and efforts across the full portfolio of products at Scale Biosciences.  This role will lead the overall product strategy for the company and partner with teams such as Development, Market Development, Commercial Marketing, Operations, and Finance for its rapid growth trajectory and to drive innovation.  This role must have a deep understanding of the landscape, technologies, applications, and customers in the single cell biology space and have the ability to translate customer future needs into highly differentiated product requirements.  Along with a passion for customers and product, the candidate must be able to bridge working both strategically and tactically and thrive in an ultra-fast paced environment.  As the head of product management, this role and through empowerment of the team will be responsible for working across the product development process from research and concept to transfer and post transfer continuous improvement phases.  This role will report directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities:


  • Develop and execute yearly strategic product plans.
  • Develop and manage product management budgets with precision.
  • Report out quarterly business accomplishments, areas of focus, and areas to adjust to meet commercial goals and company OKRs.
  • Represent the product function in Product Approval Committee meetings.
  • Hire the absolute best, coach and grow team members, and act swiftly with performance issues.
  • Collect and represent voice of customer and drive action through continuous product improvements and product requirements.
  • Drive product forecasting and pricing strategies.
  • Serves as primary customer advocate during product development; drives tradeoff decisions.
  • Be obsessive about industry trends, emerging technologies, and landscape companies to inform product and marketing strategies.
  • Assist in defining product and project priorities.
  • Accountable for delivering messaging, positioning, objection handling, and other sales enablement tools for the sales organization.
  • Represent the company at key customer and conference events by presenting and speaking with customers.

Requirements and Qualifications:


  • Technical Bachelor’s Degree required. PhD nice to have.
  • MBA or other higher level education degrees are ideal.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in marketing leadership or related function in Life Sciences required. Experience in Single Cell technologies ideal.
  • Must have experience launching products.
  • Deep understanding of academic, biotech, and pharma customers, market drivers, and their areas of research.
  • Experience as both a strategic thought leader to help drive corporate initiatives and a willingness and ability to switch to hands on leader as necessary.
  • Ability to work successfully cross-functionally within the organization.
  • Ability to contribute both creatively and analytically.
  • Early-stage, and mid-sized company experience preferred.
  • Excellent communicator and effective in presenting commercial and strategic information to a wide variety of audiences: customers, internal leadership, board of directors.
  • Demonstrated leadership of strong team culture and talent retention.
  • Solid track record of building strong relationships and working with different personality types and all levels inside and outside the company.
  • Ability to travel ~30% both domestically and internationally.
  • In office San Diego, CA required.

Below is the salary range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience.Base Salary Range - $200,000 - $225,000 USDScaleBio provides competitive compensation, health and dental benefits, 401K retirement saving plan, state of the art laboratory facilities, and an exciting and innovative culture with the opportunity to enable a novel single cell technology.
