A DAY IN THE LIFE:
The Engineering Lab Manager oversees and manages electronics in our engineering lab, combining responsibilities for lab operations with hands-on technical duties involving electronic equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electronics engineering, experience in lab management, and proficiency with various electronic measurement and testing equipment.
- Oversee Lab Operations: Manage daily operations of the electrical engineering lab, ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient working environment for all team members.
- Inventory Management: Track and manage the inventory of lab supplies and equipment, including ordering and maintaining stock levels of small parts and tools.
- Calibration Management: Oversee calibration requirements for related equipment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Budget Assistance: Assist in budgeting for lab supplies and equipment, providing recommendations for purchases and upgrades based on operational needs.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate, maintain, and calibrate electronic equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, power supplies, and network gear.
- Testing and Troubleshooting: Perform detailed testing and troubleshooting of electronic circuits and systems, analyzing test results and diagnosing faults.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of lab activities, test results, and maintenance logs for compliance and reference.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to engineering teams, assisting with experimental setups and problem-solving.
- Device Assembly and Repair: Help with the assembly, modification, and repair of electronic devices and systems as needed.
- Setup and Configuration: Set up and configure electronic test equipment and lab apparatus for various experiments and testing scenarios.
- Training and Supervision: Train and supervise junior engineers and interns in lab procedures and equipment usage, fostering a learning environment.
- Hands-On Support: Offer hands-on support in the setup and operation of electronic testing and measurement devices.
- Maintenance Documentation: Ensure all maintenance activities are documented, addressing any issues promptly to maintain operational efficiency.
- Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety audits and ensure all staff are trained in safety protocols to maintain a secure lab environment.
- Performance Reporting: Prepare reports on lab performance, research progress, and budget expenditures for review by senior management.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure compliance with safety protocols, industry standards, and company policies at all times.
- Process Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives related to lab procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
YOU’RE AWESOME AT:
- Lab Management: Extensive experience in laboratory management, including staff supervision and facilities oversight.
- Electronic Equipment Proficiency: Familiarity with oscilloscopes, voltmeters, signal generators, and related electronic equipment.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Skilled in tearing down, repairing, and rebuilding complex electronic devices, with a preference for experience in satellite electronics.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and workmanship, enabling effective assistance to others with their designs.
- Proactive Improvement: Proactive in identifying opportunities for lab improvements and staying updated with the latest technology trends.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills, allowing for effective multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field preferred; U.S. Military Electronics Technician experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Five or more years of experience in laboratory management, including staff supervision and facilities oversight.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base pay range for this position is $110,000 - $125,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, Innoflight offers a competitive compensation package that includes Profit-Sharing Bonus, Cash Performance Bonus, and a robust benefits package.Innoflight offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and life insurance. Ancillary benefits such as critical illness, accident, short term & long-term disability, pet insurance, ID & Legal Shield, Cal-Perks and EAP. You’ll also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 120 hours of paid time off (starting in year 1) and auto enrolled into our 401K with a 3% automatic company match.
