Such individuals should also have a strong interest in single-cell sequencing as a disruptive and enabling technology.We are seeking an enthusiastic Technology Transfer Scientist that has a passion for innovation, operations and for producing tools that benefit the life science community.   As the Technology Transfer Scientist, you will lead the Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) initiatives to turn great ideas into reality to realize product, process and cost gains and will partner cross functionally with Operations, R&D, finance, field support, and quality to name a few. In this role the Technology Transfer Scientist will evaluate process, products, and materials and implement improvements across the organization to facilitate production of high-quality single cell RNA and methylation products and enable customer friendly successful workflows.  The Technology Transfer Scientist will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and have a proven track record of CPI and will bring knowledge of lean six sigma operational excellence and enthusiasm to the organization to support and maintain scalable systems and process for product quality and traceability.   

Job duties will include but are not limited to:


  • Leading the effort to transfer workflows, materials, protocols, quality testing from R&D to the manufacturing team.
  • Independent design and execution of experiments to address product stability, scalability, and alternative materials for kit production and services.
  • Partner with development team to set incoming material acceptance criteria, in process QC, and final product quality specifications.
  • Lead projects as the technical expert or SME and report out data.
  • Supporting root cause analysis and production incidents with Scale’s QMS to deliver improvements.
  • Support assay development to assure best customer facing workflows and processes are developed for customer success.
  • Supporting product quality and investigations for CAPAs, NCRs and implementing corrective action.
  • Work according to Good Manufacturing and ISO practices. Follow regulatory, GLP and ISO 13485 requirements as needed.
  • Lead and support product lifecycle management.
  • Communicate effectively with peers / management and report initiatives to corporate goals.
  • Ability to cross-functionally work within and across the organization effectively as a team player.
  • Lead operational excellence initiatives in MFG and R&D.

What You'll Bring to the Team:


  • A MS or PhD in biology, chemistry or biochemistry, or relevant hands-on industry experience in Tech transfer or CPI.
  • Strong background in molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA purification and quantification, PCR/qPCR, Cell biology, enzymatic assays, and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques, RNA based sequencing assays, methylation based assay Single cell or targeted enrichment assays.
  • Single cell workflows and knowledge a bonus.
  • A can-do attitude and creative problem solving skills.
  • Management/supervisory experience and working with cross functional teams.
  • Deep knowledge of library preparation and NGS.
  • Knowledge of traditional operational excellence processes:  Lean 6 sigma, Kaizen, Gemba, visualizations, 5S, KanBan, standard work models etc.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and changing landscape.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong proactive ability to anticipate problems and mitigate risk.

Physical Activities:


  • Working in controlled laboratory environment.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time while performing duties.
  • Must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.

Below is the salary range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience.Base Salary Range - $140,000 - $160,000 USDScaleBio provides competitive compensation, health and dental benefits, 401K retirement saving plan, state of the art laboratory facilities, and an exciting and innovative culture with the opportunity to enable a novel single cell technology.
