ABOUT THE ROLE
Genalyte is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Engineering to lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers in building, maintaining and improving Genalyte products. This role will be responsible for development of new products as well as scalability improvements to existing products.WHAT YOU’LL DOMay include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for all aspects of engineering activities within the department including design, development, testing, qualification, validation and documentation.
- Hires and maintains a world class engineering team.
- Leads development projects, reports on status and coordinates with other department leaders.
- Provides technical guidance at architecture, system, component and device levels.
- Provides technical leadership in all engineering areas including: mechanical, optical, electrical and systems engineering.
- Manages a team of highly skilled engineers responsible for troubleshooting automated equipment issues including, mechanical, controls, electrical and process issues.
- Manage outsourced engineering projects from start to finish. Develop relationships with outside design services companies and perform rigorous vetting for competence and capability.
- Plan staffing levels. Work with HR to recruit, interview, select, and hire appropriate number of staff.
- Coach, mentor and develop staff on a daily basis, including overseeing new hire onboarding, regular feedback, disciplinary actions, career development and opportunities.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or closely related field with 10 years of leadership experience in a R&D or Product Development role. Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience leading development of complex, commercialized life sciences equipment.
- Extensive hands-on engineering experience in one or more of the following fields: mechanical engineering, optical engineering or electronics design.
- Expertise in evaluating operational effectiveness and being able to provide internal business process improvement.
- Experience building, mentoring, coaching and developing teams.
- Expertise in design for reliability, servicabiliy and manufacturability.
