Summary
The Assistant Warehouse Operations Manager plays a crucial role in enhancing warehouse efficiency and achieving revenue goals. This position involves comprehensive departmental management, including planning, staffing, budgeting, and expense oversight. The Assistant will monitor the quality of donated goods and ensure effective inventory management across retail, auction, recycling, and salvage markets. A key responsibility includes fostering a high-performing workforce through effective recruitment, training, and performance monitoring, aimed at continuous improvement and accountability.
The Assistant will also ensure compliance with safety regulations while maintaining organized operations. Additional duties encompass supporting customer relations, managing equipment, and providing strategic insights for process enhancements. Essential Functions
Inventory and Sales Management:
- Oversee the processing of donated goods for retail, auction, recycling, and salvage markets to help meet revenue goals. Manage auction sales and daily financial tasks, ensuring secure deposit delivery.
Quality Control and Process Improvement:
- Monitors the warehouse and evaluates warehouse operations to streamline processes, including quality of donations and sorting items for resale, recycling, or disposal.
- Identify and implement improvements in warehouse efficiency and layout.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to safety guidelines and regulations while maintaining a clean and organized warehouse.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate monthly and annual inventory and staff activity records, preparing regular reports for management.
Equipment and Customer Relations:
- Manage warehouse equipment and liaise with customers and donors to ensure positive interactions.
Staff Development:
- Provide leadership and training to staff and volunteers, ensuring departmental goals are met and fostering professional growth.
- Conduct trainings; assign tasks; monitor performance; conduct appraisals; recommend disciplinary measures.
- Guides team members in all production/donation procedures and ensures compliance with processing standards.
Performance Monitoring:
- Track employee production, evaluate performance monthly, and assist with goal-setting and performance evaluations.
- Ensures a high-performing, accountable workforce.
Support to Other Stores/Other:
- Ensure that store Production Orders are met daily.
- Provide excellent customer service to donors, customers, and fellow GJV employees, ensuring a positive experience.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Required.
- At least 3 years of retail, warehouse, or fast-food experience required.
- At least 1 year of management experience desired, including recruitment, training, performance management, and retaining an engaged and accountable workforce.
- At least one year of cash handling, register and point of sale experience.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Intermediate user of MS Office.
- Participate in an annual Tuberculosis screening and/or other screenings when necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be granted where appropriate.
