Tax Manager will have a high profile role in building a FalconX tax function that meets both the demands of a complex and changing tax landscape and those of a fast-paced and growing company. In this role, you will provide critical enterprise-wide leadership and drive domestic and global tax strategy including tax provision, tax planning and tax compliance while working closely with the company's accounting and finance teams to support the overall financial objectives of the organization. You will play a key role in cross functional initiatives and the continuous improvement of FalconX tax processes and positions. As a member of the broader FalconX finance function, you will join a team that is passionate about teamwork, finance and crypto, and we are looking for a tax manager with that same passion and level of excitement to join our team!
Responsibilities
- Manage external tax preparers and advisors in the preparation and filing of US and non-US tax returns
- Maintain the US and global tax calendar and ensure timely completion of direct and indirect tax filings and estimated tax payments
- Support offshore offices with indirect (VAT/GST) compliance matters
- Identify and oversee improvements to tax compliance processes
- Assist with ASC 740 review and prepare internal tax technical memoranda to support tax positions
- Manage indirect tax planning opportunities and tax impacts of changes in business operations and acquisitions
- Identify and drive improvements to all aspects of FalconX’s tax position
- Monitor changes in accounting for income taxes, GAAP, tax code and related rulings for developments that affect the Company's tax compliance, strategy and accounting
- Drive the development of tax strategies in coordination with senior management and manage the implementation of these strategies
- Anticipate and surface issues, solve problems, recommend solutions and support business operations to ensure an optimal and efficient tax structure
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of relevant tax experience, ideally with a mix at both a Big 4 accounting firm and in industry
- CPA or MST preferred
- Experience in a tax team of a multinational company or working with tax teams of multinational companies
- Experience with the preparation and review of U.S. and international tax returns
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience explaining tax concepts to tax and non-tax audiences
- Strong collaborator with an ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams
- Experience driving initiatives to identify areas for improvement and deliver results
- Willing to take a hands-on approach and get involved in all aspects of the job including thorough attention to detail with high standards for accuracy and timeliness
- Ability to deal effectively with ambiguities and manage multiple projects through completion, often under tight deadlines, with competing priorities and minimal supervision
- A technology-forward approach to problem solving, with the ability to evaluate, recommend, and work with service providers to implement new systems as applicable
- Crypto industry knowledge or experience preferred or a demonstrated personal passion for crypto and web3
