Summary of the role: Part Time (20+ hours a week) Temporary contract role 6-to-9-month assignment with possibility of extension. Position reports to Payroll Manager (HR Department) but will work closely with the Accounting team during payroll review, post-payroll processing, and month/quarter-end closing. Role will be 100% remote, team works on Pacific Time.Responsibilities:
- Prepare semi-monthly payroll for CA and multi-state employee in compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws.
- Review and approve timesheets for hourly, non-exempt CA based employees
- Prepare adhoc estimates and calculate final paychecks for terminations
- Prepare payroll related journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for month/quarter end close
- Support equity award administration
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or high school diploma / GED with at least 8 years of relevant work experience
- Requires 5 years of progressive experience in payroll and accounting – candidate should have a depth and/or breadth of expertise with payroll and accounting systems; ADP Workforce Now experience required
- Experience processing equity compensation such as ISO, ESPP, RSU
- Excellent organizational, prioritization and planning skills in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects internally and with external vendors
- Possess a sense of urgency; identify challenges and problems and take the initiative to identify solutions
Nice-to-haves:
- Certified Payroll Professional designation, or equivalent
- Experience using FloQast, BambooHR, E*Trade, Netsuite
This position is for a temporary or contract employee who will not be directly employed by Caribou Biosciences. Instead, the individual will be an employee of a third-party staffing firm and their work activities will be managed by the Caribou team. As a temporary/contract employee, you will collaborate closely with Caribou’s internal teams and contribute to our mission while reporting and getting supported by the staffing firm.
