Job Overview
The Senior Accountant supports the full spectrum of accounting and finance-related functions while supporting the McGregor Fund's administrative and grantmaking operations.This position offers flexibility with remote work; however, this is a hybrid role as staff attend biweekly in-person staff meetings and quarterly board and committee meetings. Additional in-office presence may be required as needed. An office space is available for those who prefer or need to work on-site.
Key Responsibilities
Finance
- Assist with investment accounting, account reconciliation, accounts payable, cash flow management, and Board reporting.
- Prepare backup and support for tax filings (990-PF, 990-T, K-1 Reconciliation) and other tax filings.
- Support audit preparation and develop financial reports and budgets.
- Process general and administrative payments and grants using an electronic platform.
Grants Administration
- Schedule and coordinate grant payments.
- Prepare periodic reports summarizing grant payment commitments and payables.
General Administration
- Support IT systems, hardware, and vendor management.
- Assist with preparing materials and attending Investment and Audit Committee meetings.
- Provide general office support as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Minimum five of experience in accounting, tax, or finance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets, database, accounting software).
- Strong organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills.
- Interest in community and public affairs, especially in Detroit.
- Ability to work autonomously and remotely.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with QuickBooks and Bill.com.
- Background in public accounting or similar roles.
