Overview:
We are seeking an experienced MS SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with over 10 years of experience, including significant exposure to cloud environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining our SQL Server databases to ensure their high availability, performance, and security. Experience with Oracle databases is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading and managing team
:
- Lead and manage team of DBAs.
- Manage, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases in both on-premises and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Implement and manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including backups, indexing, and database optimization.
Migrate and manage databases in cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency.Implement cloud-based database solutions that align with the company’s strategic goals.
Monitor database performance and optimize SQL queries, indexing, and configurations to enhance efficiency.Identify and resolve performance issues and bottlenecks.
Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations.Manage user access controls and audit trails.
- Troubleshooting and Support:
Provide 24/7 support for production databases and troubleshoot issues as they arise.Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
- Collaboration and Documentation:
Collaborate with application developers to design and deploy database schemas and stored procedures.Document database configurations, processes, and procedures for reference and training purposes. Experience of ITIL and ITSM tools like ServiceNow
- Oracle DBA Experience (Good to Have):
Manage and support Oracle databases as needed.Assist in the migration of Oracle databases to SQL Server or cloud environments.
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Extensive experience with MS SQL Server (versions 2012 and later).
- Experience with sql anywhere clusters
- Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure for database management.
- Strong understanding of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
- Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
- Knowledge of database security and compliance practices.
- Experience with database migrations and upgrades.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, T-SQL).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience as an Oracle DBA and knowledge of Oracle database management.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases and modern data storage solutions.
- Knowledge of automation tools and DevOps practices in the context of database management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Preferred - Certifications in MS SQL Server and/or cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Database, Azure Database Administrator).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in SQL Server database administration, with significant exposure to cloud environments.
