As our
Director of Business Development, you will lead & inspire a team of 6 Enterprise BDRs based in Toronto, Canada. You will be responsible for setting the vision and direction for the team while driving the overall business development strategy.You will support the daily prospecting activities, be a critical part of the hiring and onboarding process, and play an active role in the ongoing training & success of the team. You Will:

  • Lead a team of hybrid (inbound/outbound) Business Development Reps by recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training existing and new team members.
  • Manage and coach your team through regular weekly 1-on-1s, team meetings, customized training sessions, and any other creative initiatives. You are fantastic at motivating others!
  • Provide ongoing feedback & coaching by reviewing cold calls, emails, LinkedIn outreach and cadence structure to ensure standards are being met.
  • Keep the team informed on upcoming events, team KPIs, role-specific process updates all while fostering a collaborative, motivating culture.
  • Analyze metrics and track team performance ensuring data helps drive our decisions.
  • Stay informed on market trends and the competitive landscape to inform prospecting strategies, and drive continuous innovation & creativity in the outbound motion.
  • Work closely with Sales Leadership to create and hone a best-in-class culture & synergy between AEs & BDs.
  • Work closely with the Executive Leadership team to refine processes, drive revenue growth and develop the overall Business Development strategy for Alida. 

You’ll Be Successful In This Role If:

  • You can motivate and coach a team to focus on high volume cold call activity.
  • You have a deep understanding of sales methodologies, omni-channel prospecting, and complex enterprise sales cycles.
  • You are a detail-oriented leader that follows processes and keeps the team accountable to the same.
  • You are a ‘lead from the front’ type leader; you are an excellent motivator who can use all the tools as a BDR would.
  • You can demonstrate proficiency in understanding email deliverability best practices and coaching to optimal email performance. 
  • You have experience in social selling either managing a team with a strategic Linkedin strategy or yourself in a previous Sales or BD role. 
  • You believe in cold calling as the number 1 prospecting channel, have demonstrated success yourself.
  • You are keen to create and build upon existing best practices for outbound prospecting that generate high-quality opportunities - this is an opportunity to really show your creativity and inspire others.
  • You can document & teach complex processes in a clear and concise manner; using multimedia to clearly demonstrate steps and foundational knowledge.
  • You take a hands-on approach to management - you are comfortable leading by example on the phone or on the floor. You are comfortable prospecting with your team, making cold calls and sourcing event registrations alongside the team.
  • You are a collaborative leader who seeks to partner with others, you work well in a team environment, you have no ego.
  • You are a thought leader in business development, capable of innovating and setting best practices for the broader organization.

What You'll Bring To The Team:

  • 6+ years of Sales Development management experience, preferably in SaaS & with experience in large enterprise, strategic prospecting motions.
  • Experience managing hybrid inbound & outbound focused teams.
  • Experience with omni channel outbound prospecting, email, social selling, cold calling. 
  • Boast a record of exceeding your goals, setting organizational targets, and consistently delivering. 
  • Experience in the role of SDR/BDR/AE, preferably in both an inbound and outbound capacity.
  • Experience with CRM, Sales Automation tools (i.e. Salesforce, Salesloft, 6Sense).
  • Bonus points for a track record of hiring, ramping and retaining top talent.
  • University degree or equivalent.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, creativity, inspiration & accountability.

*The typical salary range for this position is $150,000-160,000 CAD base, depending on experience. There will also be a variable component.*
