The Role


As a

Sr. Scientist - AAV Capsid Engineering, you will lead and support experimental research staff in developing vector production capabilities within the CNS Design Team. You will be responsible for providing technical leadership, hands-on lab support, and guidance for junior team members while driving innovative capsid engineering methods for improved productivity in viral vector production.

How You Will Contribute


As a Sr. Scientist - AAV Capsid Engineering, you will directly influence Dyno’s ability to internalize and optimize vector production processes for CNS capsid development. Responsibilities: 

  • Review experimental plans, provide hands-on support during vector production, and help junior researchers improve their experimental designs.
  • Play a critical role bench-side during AAV vector production to increase team capacity and support decision making.
  • Develop and optimize methods to improve capsid productivity.
  • Contribute to the planning and strategy of both in vitro and in vivo studies to advance CNS capsid engineering.
  • Manage and mentor a small team of Research Associates, guiding them through daily laboratory work and long-term career development. You will also be responsible for ensuring high performance by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative team culture.
  • Collaborate closely with computational scientists to integrate data from multiple sources. You will ensure your team’s efforts align with broader company goals and contribute to successful project outcomes.
  • As a scientific leader, you’ll split your time between hands-on laboratory work and strategic oversight of your team’s activities. You’ll play a pivotal role in both executing experiments and ensuring the team meets project milestones, maintaining flexibility to step into different roles as needed.

Basic qualifications


  • PhD in biology, molecular biology, neuroscience, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of industry experience in biotech or pharma.
  • Direct experience in AAV viral production.
  • Strong foundation in molecular biology techniques (RNA/DNA methods, NGS, protein purification).
  • Proven people management experience, including performance management responsibilities.
  • Expertise in designing and planning experiments, with data interpretation skills.

Preferred qualifications


  • Experience in pooled screening or AAV biology.
  • Knowledge of high-throughput screening methods and data analytics.
