ABOUT THE JOB
RADAR is seeking an energetic individual who thrives in a small business startup environment within the high-tech industry. The Lab Manager will be responsible for a multitude of tasks in supporting a hardware engineering lab with 5-10 engineers, including lab organization, material purchasing, test configuration, prototype build management, hardware assembly and rework. Successful candidates must be self-directed with the ability to handle and complete multiple tasks of varying complexity with a minimum of supervision in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Manage laboratory operations and equipment.
- Keep lab organized & enforce lab rules.
- Purchase and maintain tools and other material. Keep all test equipment in calibration.
- Organize and manage prototype material and lab stock.
- Track prototype details such as configurations, revision level, location, etc.
- Manage short run assembly projects.
- Assist Hardware Engineer with testing in house and at 3rd party labs. Present results in report format.
- Write scripts to configure lab equipment.
- Rework and soldering when lab technicians are not available.
About You
Required:
- You have 5 years experience in relevant roles, including lab management and functional management.
- You have exceptional organizational skills.
- You have ISO experience.
- You are familiar withindustry best practices for managing hardware lab, including material storage, material handling, work in progress and finished goods tracking, ESD, etc.
- You have working knowledge of common laboratory equipment (oscilloscope, power supplies, spectrum analyzer) and practices (calibration, maintenance, components stock).
- You have solid interpersonal skills to work with engineers, both local and remote.
- You are able to execute test plans, collect data and clearly present results.
- You have good soldering skills.
- You have the ability to rework fine pitch ICs down to 0.025 inch pin spacing and discrete components down to 0402 size.
- You have experience working with 3rd party test labs.
- You are very comfortable with common MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
Preferred:
- You have RFID or any RF experience.
- You have a Start-up attitude.
