We are looking for a Principal Engineer with ecommerce experience to join the Mindera retail division.  The role will work with well known UK supermarkets and brands to drive the delivery of specific projects, as well as advise on improvements to overall architecture, tech set up and ways of working.  At Minder we partner with our clients to drive the advancement and maturity of their tech estate. . This role is crucial for leading the technical direction of the programs of work, focusing on standard tech maturity including enhancing scalability, maintainability, and security.The ideal candidate  will take accountability for all technical decisions, providing engineering expertise and representation across our clients and the wider Retail organisation.

They will help  shape engineering decisions and processes. The role will will also contribute to the growth and development of our engineering team worldwide. 

Requirements


You will:


  • Lead and deliver the technical and engineering outcomes required to design, develop, and implement complex systems and applications.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders within the client business. Helping both technical and non-technicals leaders understand the engineering teams strategy and progress. 
  • Provide leadership for technical disciplines, competencies and professions, and develop architectures, standards, and tools
  • Hire and setup (with support) the technology teams required to deliver the business change.
  • Help teams get the most from  modern cloud-based solutions.
  • Collaborate with  other engineers and any architects to ensure alignment with architectural standards and business objectives.
  • Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Develop and drive adoption of standardised development and deployment practices.
  • Ensure the integration and compatibility of new systems with existing business systems and processes.
  • Perform code reviews and provide technical feedback to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Establish performance benchmarks and associated monitoring,to maintain system health and efficiency.
  • Provide Technology input to the running of experiments and Proof of Concepts (PoC) within the group
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for the area, providing knowledge sharing sessions and thought leadership
  • Be a great person to work with, offering support and encouragement to everyone in the team. 

Qualifications:


  • Extensive experience in software engineering, ideally with expertise in Java and/or Node based technologies and frameworks
  • Proven experience with cloud technologies, ideally Azure.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills. Continuously improving themselves and the team
  • Experience delivering successful ecommerce or retail implementations or migrations using a decoupled architecture. 
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Experience with large-scale system integrations and modernization projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, - communicating ideas succinctly both written and verbal. Ability to communicate the technology vision, strategy and direction to business and technology stakeholders effectively.
