DESIGN has collaborated with a heavy industrial fabrication and machine shop seeking an experienced
Inside Sales Lead to join their facility in Portland, OR. This company is one of the largest machine shops on the west coast. They have a long history of offering a wide range of equipment and services. Their products are used in a variety of industries, including mining, steel mills, power generation, cement, pulp, and paper.

  • Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm
  • $115,000 - $125,000 annually/DOE

Primary Function:


The Inside Sales Lead will drive growth and help to improve estimating and sales processes across the team. This person will be responsible for working closely with the project management team to keep management and customers updated on the project status. Additionally, the Inside Sales Lead will provide mentorship and guidance to the Inside Sales Reps.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:


  • Lead estimating and sales efforts to drive growth within the company.
  • Improve and streamline estimating and sales processes across the team.
  • Collaborate with management to achieve set company growth goals.
  • Make key decisions impacting project profitability (P&L).
  • Ensure accurate and timely communication of project information to the manufacturing floor.
  • Work closely with the project management team to provide updates to both management and customers on project status.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and 3D modeling software (Inventor or Solidworks) to support project planning and execution.
  • Leverage experience with AutoCAD and 3D modeling software as a valuable asset in project execution.
  • Travel around the Portland metro area
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Education and Experience:


(Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred but not required with substantial relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in estimating and sales in the heavy industrial manufacturing space.
  • Prior experience leading and mentoring a sales team.
  • Must have a solid understanding of machining, fabrication, and mechanical processes.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, organized, and have solid interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable interfacing directly with customers and able to effectively communicate in either written or verbal form.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company’s vehicle insurance policy.
  • Ability to pass drug test and background checks upon acceptance of an offer.

Work Environment:


Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation.  Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers.
