This role is based in Alexandria, Virginia. It involves frequent on-site support at USAID’s offices in Washington, D.C., and may involve occasional international travel to U.S. institutions abroad. While stateside, you will be required to work from Reingold’s headquarters in Alexandria twice a week.Reingold has supported the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for Legislative and Public Affairs (LPA), its Office of International Communications and Development Outreach and Communications (DOC) Program, and its work with the DOC network on a global scale for five years.
Reingold works closely with LPA to provide communications guidance to DOC specialists overseas, review mission strategic communications plans and materials, and support LPA’s communications priorities across the agency. Working closely with LPA, Reingold creates training curricula and other resources for DOC specialists to support knowledge and skill-building for their role.Reingold is hiring a mid-career (3+ years) professional to join the small and nimble team that manages the LPA DOC Program and works on priority initiatives. This new team member will help USAID amplify stories about how its work advances national security, drives economic prosperity, demonstrates American generosity, and promotes a progress beyond programs.
About the Role
We’re looking for an organized task manager, skilled writer, and strong collaborator to help our team of expert communicators in the field of international development.
In your day-to-day work, you will:
- Elevate and empower communications specialists through online and in-person events and training.
- Provide day-to-day support for internal communications products (e.g., newsletters, emails).
- Help plan, coordinate, and execute large-scale events.
- Respond to requests from overseas communicators in a number of areas, including press and media relations, social media content and platform requests, and website content requests.
- Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders and partners inside and outside of USAID.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on communications strategies, as needed.
This role is a good fit for someone with the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, marketing, foreign policy, or a related field. Recent graduates of master’s programs related to international development, communications, or a similar area may find this role fulfilling.
- At least 3 years of professional or internship experience in relevant areas.
- Ability to produce a high volume of clear, public-facing written content under tight deadlines.
- Proven experience delivering quality customer service to all types of people.
- Ability to leverage skills in public speaking and facilitation.
- Ability to be detail-oriented and organized, and to manage competing priorities and multiple workstreams.
- Deep understanding of effective writing and storytelling methods across tactics and channels
- Proven success managing the many moving parts of event logistics (e.g., tracking timelines, negotiating with venues, communicating with attendees, organizing resources).
- Basic understanding of international contexts and news as they affect international travel and event logistics.
- Problem-solving mindset for complex communications challenges.

- Ability to diplomatically convey messages and demonstrate empathy.
- Interest in a career in strategic communications public relations, the nonprofit sector, or international development.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
