Job Summary:
The Safety Specialist at ONX Homes is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards. This role involves conducting site inspections, training employees on safety protocols, and working closely with management to promote a safety-conscious culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Development: Design, implement, and manage safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Site Inspections: Perform regular safety inspections at construction sites to identify potential hazards, ensure adherence to safety protocols, and recommend corrective actions.
- Training & Development: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, specific equipment training, and emergency response procedures.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses, and provide detailed reports with recommendations for preventative measures.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory bodies by staying up-to-date with safety standards and implementing best practices.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct hazard assessments and risk analyses to proactively address potential safety concerns.
- Reporting: Maintain safety records, including audits, inspections, and incident reports, ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to foster a culture of safety and collaboration across the organization.
- Emergency Response: Assist in developing and maintaining emergency response plans, including drills and procedures to ensure readiness in case of an incident.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety role, ideally in the construction or home building industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or OSHA certification preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and implement solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
