Job Description:
The U.S. Forest Service (FS) seeks a Full Stack Developer for the development of an Enterprise Land Management System (ELMS) intended streamline the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other processes of the land management planning cycle. The application is in active development.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Work with Product Owners and Scrum team to effectively translate the business requirements and architectural designs into engineering components to produce defect-free, thoroughly tested enterprise application.
- Perform and lead the detailed technical design, coding, code review and testing of new enterprise application.
- Design and develop ELMS application front-end, back-end, and security.
- Migrate data fields from legacy applications into the enterprise application, replacing multiple legacy applications.
- Be an integral part of a scrum team participating in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, solution design, development, QA, and implementation.
- Provide expertise in application design to maximize performance including refactoring code and identifying simplifications to the design of the applications that could lead to reduced maintenance.
- Use Agency approved and specified GitHub repository to store source code, document code, release packages, and associated artifacts
- Write clean and efficient code, following best practices and coding standards
Required Skills
- At least 7 years of strong hands-on software development experience
- Experience in building SOAP & REST web services
- Experience in building Web APIs
- 3+ years of experience with JavaScript, Typescript or React, Angular or Vue
- Familiarity with Node.js and its core principles
- Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Ability to read/write SQL queries
- Experience with SQL Server and migrating data into SQL Server
- Strong experience with full stack development, including understanding UI frameworks and back-end architecture
- Experience with Agile development
- Familiar with Git and GitHub (branching, merging, code review, pull request, etc.)
- Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including reading comprehension, writing correspondences, leading meetings with customers, and providing demosEducation and Experience:
- 7+ years of development experience
- Bachelor of Science in IT, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
Nice To Have:
- Experience in developing products/applications in Java, .NET, JavaScript or TypeScript
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS ecosystem
- Experience with Azure managed services and CI/CD

- $125k-$140k The salary range offered is an estimate made in good faith, intended to encompass various experience levels.
