Making Cents International is seeking a Deputy Chief of Party for the anticipated USAID/Guatemala Monitoring, Evaluation, Collaboration, Learning, and Adaptation (MECLA) Platform. This platform will comprise three core components: 1) monitoring with advanced data systems for informed decision-making, 2) evaluations to measure project impact and refine strategies, and 3) collaboration to strengthen local capacity and partnerships. These components are underpinning by cross-cutting themes of localization, inclusive development and learning.
The Deputy Chief of Party will support the Chief of Party with day-to-day management and operational support for the activity. This is a full-time position contingent upon USAID award.
This position is contingent upon winning a contract award.
Responsibilities
- Support the Chief of Party with overall Activity leadership, including program planning, technical execution, financial management, and operations, ensuring seamless coordination between all components. Serve as Acting Chief of Party in their absence.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with Activity partners, government counterparts, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks to ensure the smooth implementation of Activity activities.
- Oversee Activity finances, including budgeting, monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting, to ensure compliance with USAID regulations.
- Manage all logistical and procurement activities, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods and services.
- Manage subcontractors to ensure the timely provision of responsive, high-quality deliverables.
- Support the management, training, and mentoring of Activity staff.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent in international development, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
- 8-10 years of relevant senior experience in international development as Deputy Chief of Party, or in a senior management role on large USAID or development projects.
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish.
- Demonstrated operational experience and knowledge of one or more of the following: grants management, financial management, procurement, compliance, and/ or human resources management.
- Experience managing USAID cooperative agreements and/or contracts.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills required.
- Understanding of USAID regulations and policies.
