Job Summary


As a business development representative at our corporate office, you will have the unique opportunity to build our company’s brand and customer loyalty. Your skillset will be heavily utilized to expand business operations, recognize and realize potential partners and develop organizational initiatives. Whether you are undertaking lead generation efforts or researching new customers, or revisiting inactive customers, this position provides you with the chance to develop and strengthen your leadership, customer service, sales and communication skills.

Responsibilities and Duties


New customers


  • Research target customer needs and create strategies for business development
  • Participate in efforts to expand lead generation through cold calling, business-to-business selling and other methods to identify potential business prospects and assist sales professionals in acquiring new customers
  • Present SEA’s products and value-added capabilities to potential prospects in a way that promotes the company brand

Existing customers


  • Build relationships with existing dormant/underperforming customers through consistent follow up, reliable communication and frequent refreshers on SEA’s offering
  • Review historic sales to the same customers, solicit new opportunities, repeat buys, and promote the sale of complementary products
  • Collaborate with other sales team members to maximize sales through understanding program specific complementary sales, full range of products
  • Mentor and train sales and sales support professionals including new product training as required by director of sales

Qualifications and Skills


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelors’ Degree Preferred
  • Previous Sales and Customer Service experience preferred
  • Employed by SEA Wire and Cable, Inc. for at least one year
  • Independent and driven worker

Physical Requirements


  • This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
