Job Description


Title: Manufacturing Supervisor


Reports To:  Operations Manager

Job Purpose: 

The Manufacturing Supervisor shall be responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing arena including but not limited to production schedules, personnel decisions, workload capacity, and process improvements.
  • Lead set up and changeover activity on machinery
  • Monitor the progress being made to the schedule and communicate any delays being seen so that actions may be taken to correct the scheduling delays
  • Develop and communicate the production schedule to the company. Create, update and adjust dates in the ERP software to maximize production throughput and ensure successful on-time deliveries in collaboration with the Sales & Service and Purchasing & Materials Teams
  • Support and monitor production activity to ensure operators are following standard work instructions and are meeting or exceeding quality specifications
  • Audit compliance with standard work instructions and process control plans to ensure production of good parts.
  • Maintain and audit production information within the company's ERP system
  • Maintain production related documents and logs to ensure availability and accuracy.
  • Monitor production activity to ensure it is aligned with customer demand and corporate inventory goals.
  • Review un-planned scrap with employees to identify root cause and implement effective countermeasures.
  • Oversee the professional development and periodic evaluation of direct reports.
  • Identify employee development opportunities and enlist appropriate corporate personnel to assist in construction and implementation of training programs that are comprehensive and regularly reinforced.
  • Periodically evaluate staffing levels to ensure human resources are adequate and properly positioned to support current and future production requirements.
  • Champion the area’s safety program and coordinate statutory training and compliance.
  • Promote Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques in all manufacturing and administrative processes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of visual factory tools and continually monitor their effectiveness.
  • Actively solicit suggestions and exploit the experience of employees to develop and implement product and process improvements.
  • Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care
  • Ensure operational activities and management of equipment and materials are executed in a manner consistent with good stewardship
  • Execute all responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards as established by company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications


  • High school diploma, GEDor equivalent professional experience required; college degree preferred
  • 5 years supervisory experience required. More experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a high-mix precision machine shop environment required.
  • Previous experience with standard shop tools and measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) required
  • Lean manufacturing and quality system experience required (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, and AS9100D preferred)
  • Mechanical aptitude and previous experience troubleshooting machinery required
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to use material handling equipment, including forklifts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) required
  • Previous experience with scheduling ERP required
  • Experience in Epicor preferred
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
