Sr.
Defect Engineer role!The Sr. Defect Engineer is responsible for monitoring defect performance, excursions, defining the defect reduction roadmap, and driving overall yield improvement activities. They are responsible for recipe creation and assuming ownership of the defect metrology tools. The Sr. Defect Engineer will work independently, and cross-functionally and in collaboration with Process Module Engineers, Device, and Operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Will leverage the core functions within the Defect department and influence cross-functional teams.
- Will independently develop recommendations, drive yield/defect indicators and follow a report-out methodology.
- Defect reduction responsibilities include the analysis of large and diverse data sets, applying statistical methods, and drawing meaningful conclusions to help direct the efforts of the organization.
- Implement and maintain the defect database, ensure upkeep, accessibility, retention, and storage.
- Formulate data-based recommendations directed at defect reduction and yield improvement.
- Setup Defect Density control charts with appropriate limits and reaction mechanism.
- Understand defect morphology, transformation and ensure defects are captured in a defect library.
- Ensure adequate sampling for the processes and product for timely execution of conversions and reduce related scrap and excursions.
- Set up contamination, defect, and performance qualification procedures and frequency
- Establish and lead cross-functional teams to solve issues that affect multiple areas for unknown root cause.
- Support new Technology Product development defect analysis and data summary.
- Lead efforts to find root cause for Customer Quality Issues and generate Continuous Improvement Reports.
- Collaborate with OSATS on recipe creation, matching and detection.
- Collaborate with Test/Yield to setup defect inking.
- Create outgoing SOP for outgoing inspection criteria, recipe creation and tool.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Minimum B.S. in Engineer, 7 years of industry experience.
- Multitasking, troubleshooting, Problem Solving, Communication skills, Customer focus, Teamwork, Oral and Written Communication, Statistical analysis tools, Failure Analysis, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Experience with Defect Metrology Tools and how they work.
- Self directed
- Ability to influence stakeholders
- Applicant should have good problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Know when to use advance Failure Analysis to drive defect investigation to root cause.
