Job Description
The Electrode Engineering Intern will work intimately with the bench-scale electrode processes. They will work with the R&D Team to improve EnPower’s electrode and cell designs. The Electrode Engineering Intern will be responsible for providing feedback to the R&D Team on the bench-scale process flow and recommending changes to enable successful experiments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn multiple electrode or cell manufacturing processes (mixing, coating, assembly, and/or finishing).
- Work with Cell Engineers to design experiments for optimizing electrode performance
- Perform experiments to improve electrode formulations
- Understand electrode production specifications and maintain quality control standards.
- Use a computer to keep detailed records and collect accurate data.
- Provide observations and feedback to Cell Engineers and/or Engineering Teams on processing challenges.
- Contribute hands-on work for various projects and experiments.
- Contribute to development efforts related to pilot line process development, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Attend and engage in engineering design review discussions as needed.
- Work closely with team members and help whenever necessary.
- Maintain a safe working environment while adhering to health and safety laws.
Qualifications
- Working towards a B.S. in a Materials Science or Engineering-related field
- 1+ years of experience working with lab-scale or manufacturing equipment
- Knowledge of electrochemistry and/or battery materials
- Experience using the scientific method to solve problems
- Detailed work ethic, close attention to detail, and precise communication
- The ideal candidate will have prior experience in electrode/cell manufacturing techniques (operating mixers, coaters, punching machines, stackers, ultrasonic welders, auto-pipettes, testing equipment, etc.)
- Microsoft office proficiency and computer literacy
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform the following for extended periods of time:
- Standing or sitting
- Climbing/squatting/walking
- Repetitive motions and lifting
