Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Community Engagement, the Director of Community Relationships will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships that are essential to the success of Internet2. The individual in this role will work with all sectors of the Internet2 community: industry, affiliate, federal affiliate, higher education, and research and education networks to facilitate internal coordination across divisions and teams and ensure organizational alignment and operational cohesiveness.
This individual will also cultivate external partnerships that enhance our impact across all community sectors. The ideal candidate is a strong relationship-builder, a strategic thinker, and an effective communicator with a passion for community engagement.Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide leadership in the development, articulation, and implementation of a coordinated relationship and engagement strategy for the Internet2 community that spans multiple divisions and programs, including industry, affiliates, and higher education.
Working with leadership from across the organization, develop and maintain community relationships that further the goals of the organization and support the identification, development, and adoption of Internet2 services, solutions, and engagement opportunities.
Effectively direct and personally engage in community outreach and engagement.
Collaborate with internal and external teams to optimize the outcomes of cooperative efforts.
Qualifications:.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5 years experience working at the intersection of research, higher education, and relevant corporate solutions. Ability to work collaboratively and develop consensus amongst cross-functional teams.
3 years experience in defining, developing, and leading strategic initiatives.
Proven track record of building and sustaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated success with relationship management including ability to rapidly build trust and confidence of stakeholders as well as influence business decisions across boundaries at all levels of the organization
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, manage multiple priorities, and lead cross-functional teams in support of program goals.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Proactive, positive and collaborative communication style, with the ability to be direct, tactful, and transparent.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization.
Ability and willingness to travel domestically.
Proficiency in CRM systems and other relationship management tools (e.g. Salesforce).
Preferred Skills:
Demonstrated experience, knowledge and ability to communicate unique needs of academic and research communities with commercial service and solution providers.
Graduate or advanced degree.
Practical knowledge of Internet2 services and solutions.
Knowledge of today's cloud-based technologies and trends within the higher education and research community.
A passionate desire to make a difference in the engagement of current and potential stakeholders, collaborators, and members across the global research and educational (R&E) community.
Ability to recognize opportunities and develop strategies to realize them.
As a full-time employee, you will be eligible to participate in Internet2’s employee benefits program effective on your start date in accordance with the terms and conditions of each plan.
