The Build team sits at the intersection of brand new venture backable startup ideas, and centuries-old legacy institutions and companies. We have a passion for the energy and creativity that only startups can create, as well as an admiration for the scope, scale, and capabilities of our partners.As an Analyst, you will identify, research, validate and advance opportunities to launch startups. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop a well rounded playbook of management consulting tools including conducting comprehensive market research, testing critical assumptions, and effectively communicating their findings.
The ideal candidate will excel in their ability to distill complex research into easily digestible and actionable deliverables.
Job Responsibilities
- Research Retail Value Chain-aligned markets and new business opportunities, test business models against uncovered jobs to be done, develop business models, and complete due diligence on our assumptions to validate or pivot those models.
- Become a subject matter expert in the retail industry by conducting comprehensive research, employing interviews and bench research to gather essential insights for analysis
- Ideate and test new B2B SaaS concepts and business models against discovered problem statements
- Develop project management skills ensuring clear communication and attention to detail within the team and upholding transparency regarding daily activities
- Participate in High Alpha Innovation’s Sprint Week process across programs
- Actively participate in career development and coaching opportunities; strive to develop mastery within all elements of the playbook
- Participate in the overall development of our firm’s capabilities by sharing best practices and knowledge with team members
Skills Needed
- BS/BA in business, technology, engineering, or entrepreneurship preferred
- Experience in organizations that tie to the “Retail Value Chain” a strong plus
- Venture or startup experience a strong plus
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and a creative research approach
- Ability to work in large, ambiguous problem spaces
- Ability to extract relevant information from interviews and research
- Passion for working with startups and patience for working with large enterprises
- Excellent relationship builder with ability to instill confidence in their work
- Demonstrated EQ and dynamic communication skills needed to quickly build trusting collaborative relationships and instill confidence in their work with all stakeholders
- Self-starter who can thrive in an unstructured and collaborative team environment
- Ability to use tools such as G Suite, Pitchbook with advanced skills in PowerPoint/Keynote
- Ability to travel (up to 25%)
